Community Garden Plots [ Summer Ministry ] The Community Garden Plots are 5’x10’ of tilled beds east of the church parking lot. These plots are available to the people in the community as well as church members. The plots are planted in the spring with many donated seeds/plants. Each person is responsible for the upkeep of their plot throughout the summer and gets to enjoy the harvest of whatever they plant.
Great Adventure [ Summer Ministry ]
Great Adventure is held on four Tuesday evenings in July/August. It is an evening of games, snacks and a short lesson for children ages 5-14 in Bethel Church’s parking lot from 6:30pm-8:00pm.
Ice Cream Social [ Summer Ministry ] Bethel’s Ice Cream Social is held on a Tuesday evening in August in our church parking lot. There are games & prizes for the kids and also ice cream treats to enjoy together with the community.
Kids Hope USA
Volunteer mentors from Bethel Church meet once a week with students at Lincoln Elementary School in Zeeland. They meet either before school, during lunch or after school. These meetings take place from October-May whenever school is in session. Students are referred to the Kids Hope USA program by their teachers. Typically these are children who are struggling in school because of family issues, or emotional, social, and academic concerns. The relationship between the mentor and the child often help the child develop a positive self-image. Three Kids Hope USA parties are held each school year for the mentors and students and are part of the fun of being “a Kids Hope kid” and are a good way for the mentors to connect with the families. We are always looking for more mentors and prayer partners, so let us know if God is leading you toward this ministry.
Knit/Crochet Ministry
The Knit/Crochet Ministry is a group of people that love to knit/crochet and use their gifts to help others. Hundreds of items have been knitted or crocheted and donated to the following organizations: Kids Hope USA, His Harvest Stand, Lakeshore Pregnancy Center, Center for Women in Transition, The Bridge Youth Ministry, Rick Rack and Sidewalk Sunday School in Grand Rapids. There is a basket in the narthex of church for donated knit/crochet items or yarn.
Logan Estates Vacation Bible School [ Summer Ministry ] Bethel Church works with Third and Haven CRC’s to host a Vacation Bible School at Logan Estates Mobile Home Park. It is held the last part of July or the first part of August in the evening. This ministry is for boys and girls ages 4-5th grade who live in Logan Estates. The children enjoy a Bible lesson, games, snacks and crafts.
